Varietal: 70% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot & 5% Syrah
Tasting Note: Vivid ruby red colour with evident garnet reflections deriving from the maturation process. The nose is intense and harmonious with a wide and complex bouquet with notes of black fruits, tobacco, cloves and leather. Excellent harmony and body enriched by a great persistence and an excellent acid vein. Best enjoyed at 18 to 20 °C after decanting for 1 hour.
Additional information: Carmignano is the smallest DOCG appellation in Tuscany. Riserva wines have to be aged for 24 months in oak & 12 months in bottles.
Grand Duke of Tuscany, Cosimo III de’ Medici, named Carmignano as 1 of the 4 highest quality wine region of Italy in 1716. Cabernet vines from Chateau Lafite Rothschild was imported to Carmignano and it’s the first wine region in Italy that allowed Cabernet blends.
A must try for all ‘Super Tuscan’ fans.
